Court reporting in Russia and Europe | 26.11.2014

On December 1st 2014, a seminar “Court Reporting in Russia and Europe” was held in Saint Petersburg. Journalists and lawyers were invited to take part in the event, which was organised by the human rights organization Citizens’ Watch and the Guild of Court Reporters.

School of Court Reporting opens in St Petersburg | 11.11.2014

On 7 – 8 November, Saint Petersburg was host to the first seminar of the School of Judiciary Journalism, organized by Citizens’ Watch and the Guild of Court Reporters. Leading figures and experts at the event included Executive Director of the Guild, Sergei Chizhkov ; journalist and Editor-in-Chief of the news agency «Судебные Решения.РФ» (courtdecisions.rf), Pavel Netupskiy ; Professor of Criminal Law at Saint Petersburg State University and retired Chairman of the Saint Petersburg City Court, Vladimir Poludnyakov ; and spokeswoman and assistant to the chairman of the Pushkin District Court of Saint Petersburg, Daria Lebedeva . Participants included journalists from the cities of Saint Petersburg, Pskov, Petrozavodsk, Murmansk, Arkhangels, Vologda, and Kaliningrad.

On June 16th in the North-West Branch of the Russian Academy of Justice held a seminar on “Legislative Frameworks and Technological Cooperation between Courts with the Media and Journalists.” The seminar was attended by press secretaries and presidents of the court, citizens of Russia, journalists, third sector representatives (NGOs) and other experts.

“Citizens Watch’s” open-door days | 11.06.2014

“Citizens Watch” took part in the NGO Open-Door Week, held in St. Petersburg from the 5th to the 11th of June. Meetings were held on the topics of human rights education, public scrutiny, and a legal lecture on interacting with police and officials.
