Students paint over hate symbols around their school

On May 30th students from school № 230 and volunteers from “Citizens Watch” helped to remove hate symbols that had been gratified onto buildings. It is no secret that near some schools in St. Petersburg graffiti and messages of hate call for violence against various social groups (migrants, ethnic groups). Often, these acts of vandalism are overlooked because they are thought to be “harmless Nordic images or runes.”

However, these images are currently being used by nationalist groups to claim and usurp territory. Therefore, it is important to remove these signs to demonstrate this area is free from discrimination.
